My work explores the edge of legibility. As an abstract painter, I am interested in painting as language, as markings with intrinsic semantics.
The sharp delineation between painted and non-painted surface, where the gesture becomes picture is at the core of my interest as an artist.
During my student years my work became more process oriented and I am interested in the immediacy and presence of the creative process.
Gesture, time and materiality of a piece are always visible in my work.
I work with fluid inks and acrylics on various surfaces such as yupo, paper, canvas and panels.
In shows I often assemble work in spatial installations where various painting modules enter in a dialogue and form a new context of abstract meaning.
